About MISH
Our story
Mission for Sustainable Hope (MISH) was born from a commitment to addressing the challenges facing communities in Northern Kenya. Growing up in the region, the founder, Mr. Peter Durito, witnessed firsthand the effects of water and food scarcity, limited economic opportunities, and other barriers that prevented individuals and families from achieving sustainable livelihoods.
In 2014, he envisioned the idea to establishing an organization but continued to support those in need using personal resources. As the passion to support grew, he and Mrs. Gode Sambatu who later became the co-founder recognized the need for a more structured intervention. In 2023, they established the Board of Directors to guide with the registration process. On November 24, 2025, Mission for Sustainable Hope (MISH) was officially registered in Kenya as a Non-Governmental Organization. Today, MISH is committed to strengthening the capacity of vulnerable women, youth, and least resourced communities through entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable livelihood initiatives.
